Whats up everyone! Thanks for popping by. First.. RED ALERT.. We got ourselves a trap attempt. UFC 271 on Saturday, Superbowl on Sunday, and Valentines Day on Monday! Do not get caught slippin’. This is your official warning!
So for me, this Superbowl outcome will be one of the rare ones where I’ll be happy for either team. What a story this Joe Burrow kid is and what a freakin’ mature game he plays. Would love to see him get it done. Then we have our guy Matt Stafford. Stafford gets swapped for Goff and in the first year since, here we are. After 12 years in Detroit, he heads to the Superbowl in his very first year with LA. How can you not root for either of these guys to get the job done Sunday.
So as we peep out our football squares along the way trying to nail that 2 and 5 we were dealt, lets target some spots along the way in this game.
Before we get into the serious stuff, lets have some fun with part one of the SuperBowl drops.
Exotic/Novelty props!
First.. JERSEY COLOR:
14 of the last 17 winners have wore the white jersey. I’ll hold my official pick for now.
NATIONAL ANTHEM:
We have Mickey Guyton doin’ her thang to kick things off. Probably the most famous of props that are non-game related land right here. Everyone busts our their iPhones and comes up with different times but what’s important is the official, “official.”
Country singer Mickey Guyton will hold our fate on this one and her trend goes oppo of what we’ve historically had. From 1991-2020, the average length is just over 1:56. Last year, Eric Church and Jazmine Sullivan milked it and went 2:17 which was the third longest in the past 15.
Consider the fact that Guyton performed the anthem for the National Memorial Day Concert, and she clocked in at just 76 seconds.
She also sang it at the country Radio Seminar in 2015 and it ran 81 seconds. Eight months ago PBS clocked her at 87 seconds. Not too much to go off of here but what we know is she pseudo has the nickname “Quicky Mickey” as it relates to this tune.
PREDICTION: UNDER 95 seconds -120
How about the outfit color during the anthem?
White +250
Yellow/Gold +300
Blue +400
Black +500
Gray/Silver +500
Red +900
Purple +900
Pink +1000
Green +1400
Orange +1400
Guyton wore a yellow dress at the National Memorial Day Concert last May, and she was decked out in red at the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony in December. Purple was her color of choice at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade in November, and despite arriving in a sparkly cream-colored dress for last year's American Music Awards, she performed in a black/gray outfit.
PREDICTION: Throw a dart. (If I get some intel, I’ll post on Twitter)
PLANE FLYOVER:
Over 5 -120
Under 5 -120
The plan is five. The O/U is as sharp as you can get. Does someone know something we don’t about some rogue sixth plane?
PREDICTION: Five. (no play)
PLAYER SHOWN FIRST DURING NATIONAL ANTHEM:
Joe Burrow -130
Matthew Stafford -110
Matt Stafford was shown first during the anthem at the NFC Championship game. Burrow was the first player shown at the AFC Championship game. What gives.
Although Burrow is the bigger story of the two coming into this weekend, you can’t deny the home field advantage with Stafford.
PREDICTION: Burrow -130
COACH SHOWN FIRST DURING THE NATIONAL ANTHEM:
Sean McVay -150
Zac Taylor +110
McVay is the spot here., but could NBC have plans to focus on Bengals first? McVay was shown before San Francisco coach Kyle Shanahan during the anthem at the NFC Championship game. I don’t expect a swerve here.
PREDICTION: Sean McVay
COIN TOSS:
Heads -105
Tails -105
Since the first Superbowl, HEADS has come up 26 times and TAILS 29 times. In the last ten its TAILS with the edge at six. HEADS won last year.
Their might just be a coin toss curse though. Since 2014, the team that has won the toss has gone on to lose the game.
PREDICTION: Its a coin toss. Give me heads and a quick defer.
Speaking of….
COIN TOSS WINNER: RECEIVE OR DEFER?
Since 2008, 12 of the 13 Superbowl coin flip winners have opted to defer. That includes 11 straight in that run. Sean McVay since becoming head coach of the Rams in 2017, has won the coin toss 48 times and has deferred every time. On the “flip” side, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor has won the coin toss rights 27 times. Taylor has deferred 26 of those 27 times. The Bengals have won the toss twice during this year’s playoffs and have deferred both times.
PREDICTION: DEFER
HOW MANY SONGS WILL BE PLAYED DURING THE HALFTIME SHOW:
OVER 8.5 -380
UNDER 10.5 +265
Probably a line error with the 8.5 so pound the over. Last year, The Weeknd did nine. J-Lo and Shakira did 15. Maroon 5 played nine. Timberlake played 11. Gaga went with just seven but you have to consider their were also three pre-recorded songs as she entered.
This year we have five performers named and I could see each get a solo but you know they will combine for some classics as well. Easy over 8.5 and some kids are about to really learn some new things about their parents before this one is done.
PREDICTION: OVER 8.5
GATORADE COLOR:
Ah yes… the Gatorade…. Last year I got a message from the inside that purple was a lock. It ended up blue so I sent the guy for an eye test. This year, I have no info yet obviously this early on, but the odds on favorite is sitting with Orange.
Orange +200
Blue +300
Yellow/Green/Lime +450
Clear +450
Red/Pink +800
Purple/Indigo/Violet +1100
There are several pictures over the past few seasons of Rams players drinking clear out of their bottles. Zac Taylor got a bath after his first ever win with the Bengals. It as clear as well.
We have seen Burrow pounding down clear as well this year, and Marvin Lewis got doused with clear as well in the past. The bet as of now is clear as day.
PREDICTION: Clear +450 (Pending the official gator call)
Alright.. There’s a start. More to come.
