DWCS week 9
Here’s a quick breakdown on tonight’s card.
DWCS: Week 9 Live on ESPN+ at 8pm ET
J SILVA vs OMARGADZHIEV
Silva aint bad but has struggled with the takedowns. We will see Omargadzhiev get to work here. This one will get to the mat and what I’ll be doing is counting down those 7.5 minutes rooting this one into the over rounds. I believe Silva can hang around for abit.
QUINONEZ vs XIAO
Probably will pass on this one. Not much to research on Xiao and I don’t see Quinonez as a -500 fav by any means. Quinonez is the lean and I could see this one getting into the over rounds but I wouldn’t force it. They got Xiao as the #6 bantamweight out of China. A lot of people live out there right?
BASHARAT vs KAHLON
This will probably be the most talked about fight on the card.
Kahlon missed weight and then went on a verbal tangent which was uncalled for all things considered which makes you wonder where his head is at. Both guys are undefeated and their combined 22 fights have been all wins inside the distance. They are both very well rounded yet Kahlon should have the edge on the mat. This fight will get there and I wouldn’t be shocked at all if the underdog sneaks a sub here. Considering the antics at weigh ins, I regretfully will side still with Kahlon.
YAN vs K SILVA
This fight should be a mess. A couple low level fighters with padded records getting a shot here. Silva has faced the tougher opponents along the way but not by much. She’s finished her opponent in all 13 of her wins and I can see the trend continuing here if she can avoid the submissions, and get to work with her hands. I like the Silva side, fight to not go the distance, and the best spot for me would be Silva to win inside the distance at -120.
TORRES vs ENGLUND
Torres really is “El Loco.” The guy has 13 pro fights and all but one have ended in the first round with like 8 or 9 of those in like a minute. (That includes his 2 losses, both by sub) We don’t know if this guy is the real deal or not yet as he’s hung around the Mexico regional scene for the most part, so we will get some answers here against Kolton England. England is a tough dude and has a proven gas tank. All three of his losses are via TKO via punches which throws a red flag on his durability and ability to weather the storm when he gets hurt. I believe if this fight gets out of the first round, Englund could probably take over and grind his way to the win. Torres early, Englund late. Pass fight for a side, but I do like the under.
MURAD vs XIE
Murad comes in as the Titan FC featherweight champ. Solid striker yet will lack some speed here against Xie. I expect Murad to look to close and clinch as Xie will have some size and reach coupled with the speed. Xie won’t hesitate to bring the fight himself, and his slick submissions on the mat could come into play. This fight gets to the mat, he’ll be working non stop in the scrambles for the chokes. I expect Xie to be game to stand and trade, but he’ll look to time a takedown and get to work eventually. Both guys are finishers and I’ll be surprised to see this one make the final bell. That might be the prop to play as Xie has been steamed. This is a winnable fight for Murad if he can control where this one takes place, but Xie will be crafty in there and just has more ways to get it done. This will be Xie’s first fight in the states and although he’s the right side, don’t get caught speeding.
Good luck all!
